Privacy Policy for Xoris Player

Effective Date: October 14, 2026

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains, in general terms, how Xoris Player handles information when you use the app.

Xoris Player is an offline-first music player. All core features — scanning your library, playing your WAV and FLAC files, playlists, likes, and preferences — work entirely on your device. Your music files and the information the app creates about them never leave your device. There are no accounts and no cloud sync. If you uninstall the app or clear its data, this information is permanently deleted.

The app also contains optional online features, such as advertising, analytics, crash reporting, and feedback. These are described below.

2. Information We Handle

Xoris Player may handle information you choose to add or manage in the app, such as:

  • your local music library, including basic metadata read from your files (titles, artists, albums, durations, artwork) so the app can display and play them
  • playlists, likes, and preferences you create in the app
  • feedback you choose to send, such as star ratings and an optional comment
  • limited information related to app use, service availability, store features, advertising, reviews, updates, or general app improvement when those parts of the app are used

Your music files themselves are only read on your device and are never uploaded or shared.

3. How We Use Information

We use information only for reasonable app-related purposes, such as:

  • providing library, playback, and tuning features
  • saving your preferences, playlists, and choices on your device
  • improving reliability, quality, and user experience
  • fixing crashes when you have opted in to crash reporting
  • responding to feedback you choose to send
  • supporting store-related, advertising, review, or update features when available

4. Optional Analytics and Crash Reporting

Xoris Player includes optional analytics and crash reporting. Both are switched off by default, and no analytics or crash data is collected until you opt in — either in the first-launch dialog or later in Settings.

If you opt in:

  • analytics may collect generic usage events (such as which screens are opened, playback formats, and sample rates), device information, and session duration
  • crash reporting may collect crash traces, device state at a crash, and the app version

These features never include your music file names, song titles, folder paths, or the contents of your audio files. You can turn either option on or off at any time in Settings → Legal & Privacy, and the change takes effect immediately.

5. Advertising

Xoris Player is free to use and supported by advertising provided by Google through the AdMob service, in the form of banners and occasional full-screen ads between listening sessions.

Ads are requested and displayed only when your consent choices allow it and when your device is online. No ads are requested while you are offline. Advertising does not involve access to your music files, playlists, or playback content.

Where required, your advertising consent is managed through Google's consent dialog at first launch. You can review or change your choices at any time in Settings → Legal & Privacy under Manage Ad & Analytics Consent.

6. Google and Other Service Providers

Xoris Player may use Google as a service provider for services connected to app distribution, store features, updates, reviews, advertising, consent management, optional analytics and crash reporting (Firebase), and related app operations.

When you use those features, Google may process information under its own terms, privacy practices, and policies. We may also work with other service providers when needed to support the app experience, but only in connection with reasonable app-related purposes.

7. Your Choices and Control

You can choose what information you make available to Xoris Player. You can also manage many app-related permissions and settings through your device and through the app experience where available:

  • permissions, such as access to your music files, are requested by the app and can be managed in your device settings
  • analytics and crash reporting toggles are available in Settings → Legal & Privacy and apply immediately
  • advertising consent can be reviewed or changed at any time under Manage Ad & Analytics Consent
  • app-generated information, such as playlists and preferences, stays on your device and is permanently deleted if you uninstall the app or clear its data

If you choose not to grant certain permissions or not to use certain connected services, some features may be limited or may not work as expected.

Xoris Player is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Data Retention and Security

Information stored on your device, such as playlists, likes, and preferences, remains there until you uninstall the app or clear its data, at which point it is permanently deleted.

Feedback you choose to send is kept only for as long as reasonably needed for app improvement and support purposes, and it is not linked to your identity.

We take reasonable steps to support a safe and reliable experience, but no app, device, or online service can guarantee absolute security. You are also responsible for keeping your device and your music library secure.

9. Policy Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, the updated version becomes effective on the stated effective date.

Your continued use of Xoris Player after changes take effect means you acknowledge the updated Privacy Policy.
